Discover Nature Mediation
When it comes to meditation, we may often think of doing it on a yoga mat or a peaceful place indoors.
However, nature provides the perfect setting for meditation. You can do a traditional meditation in an outdoor setting or practice other unique forms as you connect with the world.
There are a few great ways you can meditate in nature.
- Sitting meditation: Do any traditional sitting meditation you'd do inside, but enjoy the world around you!
- Walking mediation: Appreciate the sights and sounds of nature as you practice moving mindfulness.
- Sound mediation: Tap into the different sounds around you as you calm your mind.
Some of the self-care benefits of meditating in nature include:
- Allows you to connect with the outside world
- Simply being in nature can reduce stress and boost our concentration
- The peaceful sounds of nature provide calming background noise
- Allows you to unplug from some of the stressors of day-to-day life you may find other places indoors
- It is a great opportunity to engage in mindful movement, particularly if you hike or walk to an outdoor meditation spot!

Set Up Your Outdoor Meditation Area
While there are so many beautiful places you can travel to meditate, we can also make the spaces around us a meditation spot!
Here are a few tips to make your meditation sanctuary:
- Scope out a safe space: When meditating outdoors, you always want to make sure it's a safe spot. Keep yourself away from anything that may fall on or hit you, and be sure you are protected from any potential weather (whether it's a storm or the bright sun that could potentially burn your skin).
- Make it comfortable: Some people prefer to do a grounding meditation where they connect with the earth and sit directly on it. Others, however, prefer to sit on a pillow or blanket to have a softer surface. Do whatever feels comfortable for you!
- Incorporate nature and your senses: Find ways to bring more elements of nature into your meditation. Can you bring some outdoor plants closer to you? Can you add a birdhouse near your spot to draw some friendly critters nearby?
