What You Need To Know About Tongue Scraping
Tongue scraping has been a practice for hundreds of years.
However, thanks to social media, it's become an increasingly popular practice in recent years.
But what exactly is it, and what are the benefits?
Much like the name suggests, tongue scraping is simply when you run a tool — generally metal, plastic, or a brush — across your tongue. This is similar to how you may brush your tongue when cleaning your teeth, but experts say it does a more thorough job.
Some of the benefits include:
- Help remove bad bacteria and keep a better balance of good bacteria
- Rid your tongue of plaque
- Help your mouth feel more clean
- A great opportunity to practice more physical self-care
While more research is needed to understand the real benefits of tongue scraping, experts say it's a great practice to add to your oral hygiene routine!

Mouthwash: Is it Necessary?
How many steps are in your oral hygiene routine? For some people, brushing and flossing may be the extent of it.
However, others may have a more extensive routine — including brushing, flossing, a water pick, mouthwash, and more.
Is mouthwash a necessary part of your teeth and mouth care? As shared by the American Dental Association, "... mouth rinse offers the benefit of reaching areas not easily accessed by a toothbrush."
Many mouthwashes are over-the-counter. others, however, may be only given by prescription by a dentist and help control conditions like gingivitis.
The ADA notes that over-the-counter mouthwash can help mask bad breath and reduce plaque, and initial research shows it may help reduce viral loads (however, more studies are needed in this area).
While it's not necessarily a total essential, dentists agree that mouthwash can be a great boost to your regular dental and mouth care!

How To Host A Relaxing Painting Night
Transforming your home into a serene haven for a painting night can offer a much-needed escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Whether you're gathering with friends or enjoying a solo artistic retreat, here are some tips to ensure a truly relaxing and enjoyable experience.
Firstly, set the mood with calming lighting and soft background music. Dimming the lights and lighting candles can create a cozy ambiance, while soothing instrumental music or nature sounds can enhance relaxation and creativity.
Provide a variety of painting supplies to accommodate different preferences and skill levels. From acrylics to watercolors, brushes to palette knives, offer a diverse selection to inspire creativity and experimentation.
Encourage guests to unwind with a selection of herbal teas, refreshing infused water, or light snacks. Consider setting up a self-serve beverage station with an assortment of ingredients for personalized drinks, fostering a sense of relaxation and creativity.
Create a supportive and non-judgmental atmosphere where participants feel comfortable expressing themselves through art. Encourage exploration and experimentation, emphasizing the process over the end result.
Finally, take breaks throughout the painting session to stretch, relax, and admire each other's work. Remember, the goal is not perfection but relaxation and self-expression.
By incorporating these elements, you can host a tranquil painting night that rejuvenates the mind, body, and soul, fostering creativity and connection in a peaceful setting.

Regular Floss vs. Floss Sticks: How the Two Compare
Floss sticks can make this practice a quick and easy addition to any dental routine.
But are floss sticks as effective as traditional floss? Here's how the two compare, as shared by dental experts.
Traditional Floss
- Since it wraps around your fingers, you can use it to reach a wide range of areas
- The length makes it easy to move between your gums and get around all areas of your teeth
- It easily conforms to the different curves and shapes of your teeth.
- Some people find it tedious to use a long piece of floss.
Floss Sticks
- They make flossing quick and easy.
- Since they only use a short piece of floss, it can be difficult to reach all the nooks and different areas around your teeth and gums.
- The shape of a floss stick is not as easy to move around your teeth compared to string floss and your fingers.
- It is an accessible option for those who have difficulty using regular floss.
If it means using a floss stick or not flossing at all, experts say it's always better to use whatever makes it a part of your routine! However, if you're debating between the two, experts say regular floss does a more thorough job!

The Importance of Financial Self-Care
Financial self-care involves actively managing and nurturing your financial well-being to achieve greater stability, security, and peace of mind. Just as we prioritize our physical and mental health, tending to our financial health is essential for overall well-being.
Start by cultivating mindfulness around your finances. This means regularly reviewing your income, expenses, and savings goals. Set aside time each week or month to assess your financial situation, track your spending, and adjust your budget as needed.
Practice good financial habits, such as saving a portion of your income, paying bills on time, and avoiding unnecessary debt. Establishing an emergency fund can provide a safety net during unexpected financial setbacks, reducing stress and anxiety.
Invest in your financial education by learning about topics like budgeting, investing, and retirement planning. Seek out resources such as books, podcasts, or financial advisors to expand your knowledge and make informed decisions.
Prioritize self-care by setting boundaries around spending and avoiding impulse purchases. Treat yourself occasionally, but focus on experiences and activities that bring lasting fulfillment rather than material possessions.
Finally, remember that financial self-care is an ongoing process that requires patience and perseverance. By prioritizing your financial well-being and practicing good money management habits, you can cultivate greater financial stability and security for the future.
