When Do Seasonal Allergies Start?
While spring means warmer weather and more sunshine, for some people, it comes with a dreaded side effect: seasonal allergies.

Millions of people experience the sniffles, itchy eyes and skin, and tiredness from allergies.

But how do you know when they start?

While it can vary from region to region — and some warmer climates may have year-round allergens — it typically depends on what causes a person's allergies.

For example, Medical News Today shares when different allergy seasons span:
  • Trees: February to May
  • Grasses: April to June
  • Molds: July to October
  • Weeds: August to November
Especially if you know what you're allergic to, being aware of when peak season hits can help you best defend against and treat it.

Tips To Help Ease Seasonal Allergies
While seasonal allergies may be unavoidable, you don't have to spend the whole season suffering!

A health provider can help you diagnose allergies and determine the best steps, like if you need medication.

However, there are a few tips anyone can take to make allergy season a little more bearable:
  • Check pollen counts: You can check online to see the pollen counts for different allergens in your area. If they're high, it may be helpful to spend more time indoors than outside.
  • Shut the windows: While it's nice to enjoy a spring breeze, especially when allergy season is at its peak, it can bring more of those irritants into your home. If you're sensitive, consider keeping the windows shut — particularly on windy and dry days.
  • Get an air purifier: An air purifier can help remove allergens from the air in your home.
  • Shower and change clothes if you've been outside: Pollen can cling to your clothes and skin. Showering and changing any clothes you wear outside can help minimize any reactions.

A Guide to the Ultimate Self-Care Skincare Night
Creating a self-care skincare night can be a rejuvenating ritual to pamper yourself and promote relaxation. Follow this guide to indulge in a luxurious evening of nourishing skincare:
  1. Set the Scene: Create a calming atmosphere by dimming the lights, lighting candles, and playing soothing music. Clear your space of distractions to fully immerse yourself in the experience.

  2. Cleanse and Exfoliate: Start by cleansing your face to remove makeup, dirt, and impurities. Follow up with a gentle exfoliant to slough away dead skin cells and reveal a fresh complexion.

  3. Masking Moment: Apply a nourishing face mask suited to your skin's needs. Whether it's hydrating, clarifying, or brightening, take this time to unwind and let the mask work its magic.

  4. Treat and Tone: After removing the mask, apply a serum targeted towards your skincare concerns, such as anti-aging or acne-fighting. Follow up with a hydrating toner to rebalance the skin's pH levels.

  5. Moisturize and Massage: Seal in moisture with a rich moisturizer or facial oil, gently massage it into your skin in upward motions to promote circulation and relaxation.

  6. Eye Care: Don't forget to show some love to your delicate eye area with a hydrating eye cream or gel to reduce puffiness and dark circles.

  7. Final Touches: Finish off your self-care skincare night with a soothing lip balm and a spritz of your favorite facial mist to refresh and hydrate your skin.

By dedicating time to prioritize your skincare routine and indulge in self-care, you'll not only achieve a healthy and radiant complexion but also cultivate a sense of inner calm and well-being.

Can You Develop an Allergy?
Have you ever used a product for years, only to wake up one day and seemingly have a reaction to it?

You may be wondering if that's even possible — how can something you've used daily suddenly make you break out in a rash? Was it simply a bad batch, or could it be an allergy?

It turns out you can randomly develop an allergy.

This may be known as dermatitis — which is basically when your skin is itchy, red, and irritated.

There are two kinds of dermatitis, irritant contact and allergic contact. Irritant contact dermatitis is more surface-level and just occurs where the product is applied. Allergic contact dermatitis, however, is a true allergy where your immune system fights against it.

As dermatologist Dr. Jushya Bhatia Sarin shared, it's a "misconception" that you can't develop an allergy to something you've been using for a long time. Sarin added it can take months or years for an allergy to develop.

Experts recommend if you begin to have irritation, stop using a product and work with a professional to see if it may be causing the issue.

Painting As A Form Of Self-Care
Painting can serve as a powerful form of self-care, offering a therapeutic outlet for expressing emotions, reducing stress, and promoting mindfulness. Here are some tips to get started with painting as a means of self-care:
  1. Create a Relaxing Space: Designate a quiet and comfortable area where you can paint without distractions. Surround yourself with inspiring images, soothing music, or aromatherapy to enhance the experience.

  2. Start with Simple Supplies: You don't need expensive or elaborate materials to begin painting. Invest in basic supplies such as acrylic or watercolor paints, brushes, and paper or canvas. Experiment with different mediums and techniques to discover what resonates with you.

  3. Embrace Imperfection: Let go of expectations and perfectionism. Painting is about self-expression, not producing flawless masterpieces. Allow yourself to explore and make mistakes—it's all part of the creative process.

  4. Paint Your Emotions: Use painting as a way to express and process your emotions. Whether you're feeling joyful, anxious, or melancholic, allow your feelings to guide your brushstrokes and color choices.

  5. Practice Mindfulness: Approach painting with a mindful mindset, focusing on the present moment and the sensory experience of applying paint to canvas. Notice the colors, textures, and sensations as you create.

  6. Set Aside Regular Time: Incorporate painting into your self-care routine on a regular basis. Schedule dedicated time for painting sessions, even if it's just a few minutes each day.

  7. Celebrate Your Creations: Appreciate and celebrate your artwork, regardless of the outcome. Each painting is a reflection of your unique perspective and journey.

By embracing painting as a form of self-care, you can cultivate greater self-awareness, creativity, and emotional well-being in your life.

Would You Invest In Famous Works Of Art?
When the painting by master Claude Monet (you may have heard of him) was bought for $6.8 million and sold for a cool $8 million just 631 days later, investors in shares of the offering received their share of the net proceeds.

All thanks to Masterworks, the award-winning platform for investing in blue-chip art. To date, every one of Masterworks’ 16 sales out of its portfolio has returned a profit to investors. With 3 recent sales, investors realized net annualized returns of 17.6%, 21.5% and 35%.

How does it work? Simple, Masterworks files each offering with the SEC so that nearly anyone can invest in highly coveted artworks for just a fraction of the price of the entire piece.

Shares of every offering are limited, but Note To Self readers can skip the waitlist with this exclusive link.
